Mary Henry survives a car crash that drowns her two companions but has no memory of how she lived. She moves to Salt Lake City to work as a church organist and begins seeing a pale, ghoul-like figure called “The Man.” Mary experiences episodes of invisibility and haunting visions of ghouls dancing at an abandoned lakeside pavilion. Locals and a doctor grow concerned as she drifts between trances and reality, culminating in her vanishing at the pavilion. The submerged car is later recovered in Kansas, revealing Mary’s body alongside the other two women.
